Muddy Waters Annual Blues Tribute

Westmont, Illinois

July 11, 2010
Every year, the Village of Westmont and the Westmont Special Events Corporation honors the Godfather of the Blues with its Blues Tribute and music celebration.

This year's event will be held on July 11, 2010.  The day will begin with an open mic blues jam, which invites Chicago's budding blues artists to come out and jam the blues with an excellent blues band on a professional stage with top-notch audio from Gand Sound.  This year, we'll hold the finals to our Muddy Waters Chicago Blues Slide Guitar Contest.  And the night will end with one of Chicago's most entertaining blues acts...

Lil' Ed and the Blues Imperials
Westmont, Illinois
Sunday, July 11, 2010

It's official, Lil' Ed and the Blues Imperials will be our headlining act at the 2010 Taste of Westmont and Muddy Waters Blues Celebration.  If you haven't seen Lil' Ed and the guys, then you're in for a real treat, and if you have seen them, then I know you'll be there!  We're looking forward to it.

BLUES ARTISTS WHO HAVE PERFORMED
AT OUR MUDDY WATERS BLUES NIGHT

Over the years, the Taste of Westmont and the Muddy Waters Blues Night have had some of the greatest names in the blues at our events.  We want to thank all of these great artists for helping keep the blues alive!

One of our greatest moments occurred when we brought Big Bill Morganfield and Mud Morganfield, both sons of Muddy Waters, together for the first time since their fathers' passing.  It was actually the first time they had ever performed on the same stage.  And then joining them on stage was their little brother Joe to close out the night with "Got My Mojo Working".  It was a special night.  And somehow, we're lucky enough to recreate blues magic every year.  Last year we had a unique blend of Lonnie Brooks, of course a great act on his own, with Sharon Lewis, and then Tallan Latz, a 9-year old blues guitar whiz.  Later that week, Tal was on America's Got Talent and got a standing ovation as well as launched an international YouTube frenzy to watch his performance.
